The house seems to loom up over you as you approach, walking up the stone steps to the massive wooden double doors.  Even from the porch, the silence emanating from the house is almost deafening.

"This is awesome," Kinsey whispers, her smile becoming more of a nervous one.  "I am so scared right now."

"I guess so..." you answer hesitantly, to which Kinsey claps her hands in excitement.  You follow her up and over the gate, but not before checking over your shoulder first for any witnesses.  It's a waste of time.  The house was built with seclusion in mind; there's no one around for miles.  No one to hear us scream, you can't help but think.

You land unsteadily next to Kinsey on the hard ground, and you swear you feel the wind pick up.  Kinsey doesn't seem to notice anything though, as she's already heading off towards the house.  She's practically skipping.  You take a look around at your surroundings before following after her.

You look past Kinsey to the house.  Unable to shake the feeling that something terrible lurks within it, you shake your head and take a step back from the gate.

"Sorry Kinsey," you say.  "I think I'm gonna sit this one out."

"Pfttt!  Lame," she replies, swinging her leg over the top of the fence and dropping down on the other side.  "Why've you always gotta be such a wuss."  She smirks, and turns to walk across the massive front yard the to house.  Suddenly filled with dread, you make a grab for her arm through the iron gate.  Your fingers fall short, but it's enough to get her to stop and turn around, though she continues to walk backwards

There's a house in Rhode Island.  Specifically, in Newport.  Even more specifically, on a hill just outside Newport, overlooking the town below.  It's an old house, built sometime in the 1880s, and it's stood empty since 1937,  It's two floors (with abasement and attic), stands on a massive plot of land, and is completely surrounded by a high cobblestone wall with a massive iron gate at the front.  It's also, apparently, haunted.

Many a Newport youth was gone up to the house on a dare, challenged to brave it's silent halls and return with some sort of token as proof.  Not everyone comes back.  Tonight could very well end up being another one
